Comcast to Kick Cartoon Network/Adult Swim to a More Expensive Tier

Cartoon Network fans have had it difficult in the 2020s compared to previous decades, although Adult Swim has had relative success with hits like Smiling Friends. HBO Max’s Cartoon Network purge and the lack of any new shows coming in 2024 have made things difficult for fans. 2025 seemed to be a sign that things are changing with the addition of new show Iyanu, but the network is going to receive a major blow. If you are a Comcast customer, you are going to have to pay more for Cartoon Network/Adult Swim.

Now Comcast customers have to pay an additional $9.95 per month to watch the network on a premium More Sports and Entertainment package. Around April, Sling removed Cartoon Network/Adult Swim from its Orange package (the more popular package with ESPN), forcing users to subscribe to both Sling Orange and Sling Blue to get both Cartoon Network/Adult Swim and ESPN. The changes occurring within cable companies are major and we have to point out that Comcast is the second largest cable company in the United States. Cable is already getting really expensive, but it seems like Cartoon Network/Adult Swim is getting more and more unaffordable as time goes on.

Fortunately, there are a few cheaper streaming alternatives for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim shows. A very good portion of the Adult Swim library is on Max. Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Tubi have a few Cartoon Network shows available. There is the question of how these developments will affect the production of more Cartoon Network Studios and Williams Street shows as the fewer eyeballs there are, the less incentive there is to make more shows. People have held funerals for Cartoon Network many times throughout its history, but its continued to survive. The Comcast move is a major blow to consumers and will make the two animation centered networks less accessible, but surely some hardcore animation fans would be willing to pay.
