UK Registration For Gunpla Builders World Cup 2025 Closes 30th September

For years now Bandai have run the Gunpla Builders World Cup, an official competition in which Gundam fans from select regions compete by submitting personal custom builds of the iconic Gunpla model kits. For a while the United Kingdom was not part of this event but was recently added and the registration to submit builds for the 2025 event is now open.

Fans have until 30th September to submit their builds, with the contest split into two categories. The U-20 Course is open to contestants aged 16-20 years whilst the Over-21 Course is open to contestants 21 years of age and older.

Entrants are required to submit multiple specific angles of their build in addition to clarifying the source Gunpla kit that has been used. The aim of the contest is to show what you are capable of producing with Gunpla kits, be it a traditional painted build or an involved bespoke sculpted diorama with electronics and other elements.

First, Second and Third place winners will be chosen by the judges from each course, receiving a gold, silver and bronze trophy respectively. All six top winners will receive a HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Smoke Clear Ver kit and every participating contestant will receive a Gunpla Builders World Cup 13th Tournament badge. Furthermore, the aforementioned chosen domestic champions will receive a trip to Japan to represent the United Kingdom in the Gunpla Builders World Cup finals.

Further details and how to enter can be found on the official site- https://gbwc.bandai-hobby.net/united_kingdom/

Speaking personally, it’s really exciting to see the United Kingdom being involved with this competition. Many Gunpla fans begin their journey by creating straight out of box builds before moving up to painting & detailing and from there finding the confidence to experiment and customise. An event such as this allows Gunpla fans from around the globe and show what skills they’ve developed in the hobby, be it a custom build based in the myriad Gundam fictional canon or some original bespoke idea that happens to use Gunpla kits as a foundation. I myself have a number of custom builds I’m now considering entering. Even if I don’t win, that’s the fun of the hobby- hitting upon your own original ideas, finding ways to make them a tangible reality upon a Gunpla base and then sharing them with other enthusiasts. Every new build is an opportunity to learn and grow. Good luck to all who enter.
