It’s SDCC time, and the first major bombshell is the world premiere of the first public image from Avatar: Seven Havens. The third Avatar series was formally announced last February by Nickelodeon and creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
What you’re seeing is Pavi, the latest Avatar and a born Earthbender, strolling down the path toward the city of Aurora, a locale we should learn more about soon. Pavi has a twin (who isn’t the Avatar), but they are not in this picture…we’re told the other human figure is Pavi’s mentor Jae. Who’s the cute kitty, and what other animal is it a crossbreed of?
We noticed one other thing….PAVI HAS A PEG-LEG!
This image looks far cheerier than what Nick’s description implied. “Avatar: Seven Havens is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm,” they said dramatically last February. “A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.” Aurora is one of the Havens.
Some fans were mad that THIS was the state Korra left the world in, but…are you really that surprised?
Avatar: Seven Havens has been given a two-season order of 13 episodes each, a great improvement from the one-season orders they gave to Korra that forced a lot of story compression and rushed events. We do not know at this time if only 26 episodes are planned as the full story or if DiMartino and Konietzko are open to more. But before this show makes its debut, you’ll be able to whet your appetite with The Legend Of Aang, a feature film set to debut in theaters January 30, 2026.
Avatar: Seven Havens will debut after it, at an unspecified time in the future. It is not to be confused with Avatar: Safe Havens, a comic strip about Avatars who turn into mermaids.
