“Trigun Stargaze” to Release in 2026

Back in 2023, the first season of the Trigun reboot, Trigun Stampede streamed on Crunchyroll and surprised many by being a reboot of a beloved franchise that was actually well liked. Studio Orange delivered some dynamic animation and proved that CGI television animation can look good when executed properly. Surprisingly, instead of being a closer adaptation to the manga like was previously expected, instead the series was a reimagining quite different from both the manga and 1998 anime adaptation being set before Vash got his 60 Billion Double Dollar bounty. It has been two years since the last season and it looks like we have to wait another year for the next season.

Trigun Stargaze is the “final phase” of the reboot and will stream sometime in 2026. There’s been very little revealed so far as to what the plot may entail, but we do know the staff that will work on this. Masako Sato will direct. The story will be from the same mind behind Stampede, Takehiko Oxi. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu will be in charge of scripts. Kouji Tajima, character designer and concept artist from Stampede, will return for Stargaze. Kiyotaka Oshiyama, who worked on special effect design for Stampede, will work on animation character design for Stargaze. So it looks like the staff is a mix of old and new, but at the very least, the story writer and animation studio will be the same as Stampede. We can assume that it will stream on Crunchyroll like the previous season and retain the same Japanese and English cast as Stampede. Presumably, the final season will also be a single cour in length, although that has not yet been confirmed.

Nevertheless, Trigun is one of the most beloved anime franchises  and fans are excited to see how this reboot ends. Will it end up as legendary as the 1998 adaptation? We’ll see.
