Finally, some real news regarding the state of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse! Sony Pictures held a panel this morning at CinemaCon 2025 where they revealed, among other things, an actual RELEASE DATE for the trilogy capper, as well as some images no one’s seen before.
Originally, we were promised Beyond the Spider-Verse would be released just one year after Across the Spider-Verse, in March of 2024. But then a lot of things happened…stories of crunch conditions during the second film’s production were leaked, resulting in a statement from Lord Miller that they would “take the time necessary” to complete the third. That time got an extension when the SAG-AFTRA strike made work on the film impossible.
So when can we at last expect Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse? Not tomorrow, but not next decade either. Sony has officially announced a date: June 4, 2027.
Sony also released five images of the in-progress film to the press, and it looks like the high quality of the visuals has only been refined further. Each of these screenshots could be a painting hanging in a museum…

Sony announced last December that Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson have been assigned to direct Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse. Persichetti co-directed the first movie and served as executive producer on the second, while Thompson was a production designer on them both.
One last thing…in related news, Sony revealed the title of Spider-Man 4. Considered a reboot of sorts, even with Tom Holland and Zendaya returning, it has a title that does not have the word “home” in it anywhere. They’re calling it “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
Uhh….you guys sure that’s the best idea? That name gives anyone familiar with the comic flashbacks to some dark days. Brand New Day was the name given to the arc by Dan Slott that had to follow one of the most hated Spidey stories of all time. Let’s not use it for any inspiration, guys.
