First Casting News For One Piece Season 3 Revealed

netflix one piece

We still don’t have One Piece Season 2, and we won’t have it until March of next year, but Netflix is already thinking about Season 3 — and who will be in it. They have to…production has already begun and cameras are already rolling, this time in Cape Town, South Africa.

So why hide it? Spoilers, maybe…but their list of Season 2 cast members that will return for Season 3 is light on surprises if you know anything about One Piece as a whole. Mikaela Hoover (as Chopper), Joe Manganiello (as Mr. 0), Lera Abova (as Nico Robin) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (as Nefartari Cobra) have all been promoted to series regulars in the season currently shooting. None have been introduced in the episodes that are publicly available, but imagine if Chopper wasn’t confirmed as a regular.

As for newcomers, this is interesting…Xolo Maridueña is joining the cast in Season 3 as Fire Fist, aka Ace, the former captain of the Spade Pirates and a member of the Whitebeard crew. You may remember this guy as Miguel Diaz on Cobra Kai, a role he portrayed for multiple seasons…people with long-running Netflix subscriptions will certainly recognize him. He was also Blue Beetle in the 2023 movie, which ALSO happens to be on Netflix right now, but far fewer will recognize him from it regardless.

Cole Escola, an actor mainly known for Broadway and a few voice acting credits, has been cast as Bon Clay. Netflix’s description refers to Clay as “a master of performance and precision; as dangerous as they are dazzling — a theatrical assassin who turns combat into art.” Yup, Clay is nonbinary…so is Escola.

Ian Stokes, producer of Marvel’s Luke Cage and Iron Fist, will join the crew behind the scenes alongside Joe Tracz, who has served as co-showrunner since the start. Stokes is replacing Matt Owen who co-ran the first two seasons.

Finally, this teaser picture released by the production crew shows the title and writer of Season 3’s first episode. It’ll be called “When There’s Smoke” and it will be written by Ashley Wigfield and directed by Christoph Schrewe.

As for the season before this that we haven’t even seen yet, One Piece Season 2 returns March 10, 2026 on Netflix.
