The second season of Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt premiered and it seems that what many fans speculated would happen has happened. Amazon did not retain the original cast. Fortunately, the new cast still has some very talented people behind them. This is the new dub cast:

• Panty is now voiced by Courtney Lin of Barbie fame. Not making this up. Jamie Marchi was the original English voice in Funimation’s dub of season one.
• Stocking is now voiced by prolific anime voice actress Cristina Valenzuela. Monica Rial was the original English voice in Funimation’s dub of season one.
• Daniel Walton is the new voice of Garterbelt. Christopher Sabat was the original English voice in Funimation’s dub of season one.
• Kieron Walton is the new voice of Brief. Joel McDonald was the original English voice in Funimation’s dub of season one.
• Cat Protano is the new voice of Scanty. Colleen Clinkenbeard was the original voice in Funimation’s dub of season one.
• Ryan Bartley (Ram from Re:Zero) is the new voice of Kneesocks. Cherami Leigh was the original voice in Funimation’s dub of season one.

It appears that social media has acknowledged that although the old cast is greatly missed (and Jamie Marchi’s iconic script), this new cast has some beloved talent on it and the script is just as crass and crude as season ones. Currently, season 2 has a MyAnimeList score of 7.92, a score even higher than the first season. Fans seem to be reacting pretty positively to this current season. We finally get a resolution to the shocking cliffhanger of season one, which I won’t spoil here.

The series involves two angels, Panty and Stocking, who were kicked out of heaven for their, um, sinful nature. Season one usually had two American style eleven minute segments and involved the characters fighting the monster of the week. Monsters were themed after poop, boogers, and other nasty things in American grossout cartoon fashion. The show is a very interesting window in how Japanese stereotype American cartoons. The show is filled to the brim with swearing and naughty humor, as the names of the title characters are pretty naughty.
