“Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie” Cast Revealed

Given how it’s pretty rare for Dreamworks shows to get a movie, it’s pretty notable when one does happen. This is the case for Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, which recently revealed the entire cast. Here’s everything that you need to know about it.

First up, let’s go over what Gabby’s Dollhouse is about. Gabby’s Dollhouse is a preschool series produced by Dreamworks Animation Television that came out on Netflix on January 5, 2021. The series is created by Traci Paige Johnson and Jennifer Twomey, who previously worked together on Blue’s Clues and Team Umizoomi. The show has each episode begins with the live-action Gabby playing in her bedroom. She then unboxes a miniature package received in the Dollhouse Delivery brought to her Meow-Meow Mailbox that is the catalyst for an adventure inside the animated world of her dollhouse. Gabby puts on her cat ears headband and shrinks down with her stuffed toy Pandy Paws, who’s her best friend, to help all her cat friends in need.

One would wonder why the show would be getting a theatrical movie, but it makes sense. It’s consistently in the top 10 of Netflix’s kids shows. Videos uploaded to the Gabby’s Dollhouse and Netflix Jr YouTube channel often get millions of views quickly, especially full episodes. There’s all kinds of toys and games, as well as theme park representation. It even got a float at the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. As such, this makes perfect sense. To quote DreamWorks Animation president Margie Cohn: “She’s big and she’s about to get much bigger, which is to say that our girl is primed and ready for her theatrical debut,” Margie Cohn said, referring to plans to bring the popular property to theme parks, live entertainment, gaming, interactive offerings and more. “This will be an all-new hybrid family adventure that is imaginative and interactive.”

Anyway, here’s the plot and cast. The movie has Gabby going on a road trip with her grandma, GiGi (played by Gloria Estefan), to the urban wonderland of Cat Francisco. But when Gabby’s dollhouse, her most prized possession, ends up in the hands of an eccentric cat lady named Vera (played by Kristen Wiig), Gabby teams up with some new animal friends and sets off on an adventure through the real world to get the Gabby Cats back together and save the dollhouse before it’s too late.

That certainly sounds exciting. The movie will also see the return of the show’s voice cast, including Laila Lockhart Kraner as Gabby, Logan Bailey as Pandy Paws, Eduardo Franco as Daniel James DJ Catnip, Juliet Donenfeld as Cakey Cat, Donovan Patton as CatRat, Sainty Nelsen as Pillow Cat, Maggie Lowe as Baby Box, Carla Tassara as Carlita, Tara Strong as both Mama Box and Kitty Fairy, and Secunda Wood as MerCat. This is pretty notable given the other Dreamworks theatrical movie based on a TV show, Spirit: Untamed. Despite being based on the Spirit: Riding Free TV show, all the voice actors were replaced. As such, this is nice to see.

Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie is produced by Dreamworks Animation, distributed by Universal, executive produced by Traci Paige Johnson and Jennifer Twomey, and will come out on September 26, 2025. The movie is written by the duo of Melanie Wilson LaBracio and Adam Wilson, who are no strangers to the world of preschool shows since they’ve written episodes of Muppet Babies 2018, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, and fellow Dreamworks series Madagascar: A Little Wild. The movie is directed by Ryan Crego, who previously worked on Puss In Boots, Sanjay And Craig, Home: Adventures With Tip And Oh, and both the Arlo The Alligator Boy movie as well as its TV spinoff I Heart Arlo.

And that’s all we know about the movie. What do you think? Are you excited for Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie? Leave your comments below.
