The Star Wars animated projects on Disney+ keep growing as a new season of “Star Wars Tales” is on its way. The anthology series started as Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi in 2022, and already had a title change last year (Tales of the Empire), and now the title for its next season has been announced… Tales of the Underworld. This implies it will take a closer look at another corner of the Star Wars franchise, that being its criminal element.
A trailer was also released, and the series is set to debut on May 4th, 2025 (which is generally considered “Star Wars Day” and should be celebrated as such). Here’s the trailer:
The official synopsis for Tales of the Underworld reads as follows: “The series of animated Star Wars anthologies, which began in 2022 with Tales of the Jedi and continued in 2024 with Tales of the Empire, this time focuses on the criminal underbelly of the galaxy through the experiences of two iconic villains. Former assassin and bounty hunter Asajj Ventress is given a new chance at life and must go on the run with an unexpected new ally, while outlaw Cad Bane faces his past when he confronts an old friend, now a Marshal on the opposite side of the law.”
The voice cast for Tales of the Underworld includes returning voice actors Nika Futterman as Asajj Ventress and Corey Burton as Cad Bane, as well as Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez. Dave Filoni created the series and is the supervising director. He is also an executive producer along with Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Beck. Josh Rimes serves as co-executive producer, Alex Spotswood is the senior producer, and Matt Michnovetz is the writer.
Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire episodes are already available to stream on Disney+. Be sure to check out Tales of the Underworld as well, when it debuts on May 4th, 2025.
