Kaguya-Sama: Love is War is one of the most beloved romantic comedy anime series in recent years and we have confirmation that the final arc will be adapted into a movie (release date TBA). The disappointing aspect of this news is that there are multiple unadapted arcs from the manga and the movie will apparently only adapt the final arc. The last Kaguya-Sama movie was The First Kiss that Never Ends, which Crunchyroll has split off into four television episodes. This film previously received a limited subtitled only theatrical release in the United States before getting dubbed and split into episodes. Most likely, a similar approach will be done for this film too. A series of two television specials, Stairway to Adulthood have recently been released on Crunchyroll, albeit with a dub yet to be released.
Official synopsis of the series:
“All’s fair when love is war!
Two geniuses. Two brains. Two hearts. One battle. Who will confess their love first…?!
Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane are two geniuses who stand atop their prestigious academy’s student council, making them the elite among elite. But it’s lonely at the top and each has fallen for the other. There’s just one huge problem standing in the way of lovey-dovey bliss—they’re both too prideful to be the first to confess their romantic feelings and thus become the ‘loser’ in the competition of love! And so begins their daily schemes to force the other to confess first!”
This movie should answer the question, who is going to confess
first, or will either party eventually confess? This finale film should be highly anticipated for wrapping up that longstanding plot. We should also expect some good laughs too based on this series’ track record. We’ll keep you posted if we get any more information, like a concrete release date in Japan or abroad.
