“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run” Coming to Netflix March 19

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run is one of the most anticipated titles of 2026, and now we finally have a release date of March 19. What is surprising is the big piece of news that the premiere will be a lengthy 47 minute premiere. Here is the trailer for the highly anticipated series:

The trailer announces that the “1st stage” premieres on March 19. This implies that we will see the batch release that Stone Ocean received. That previous season  released episodes in 13 episode batches from December 1, 2021 to December 1, 2022 with long gaps between batches. Fans generally hated this approach and long content droughts, but it seems like we are getting this release schedule again. At least we are getting episodes, even if we have to wait months between batches.

From the trailer, we can tell that this season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure will be a cross country horse race set in the year 1890. The protagonist Johnny Joestar, is a jockey who got paralyzed after getting shot. After meeting a mysterious man named Gyro Zeppeli, he gains his mobility back when coming into contact with an artifact called a steel ball. The horses are also mostly in CGI, which may upset some people hoping for traditionally animated horses. The trailer doesn’t include any Stands in actions, probably to keep the characters Stands a secret. Zeppeli seems to have a new type of superpower called “spin” without the trailer going into too much detail on how that power works.

So now we can see how this reboot goes back to the 19th century,  just as the first season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure did. It even features a character with a similar name as the original JoJo protagonist Johnathan Joestar. Still, the reboot is way different from the gothic England setting of the first season. This part of the manga is often hyped as the best part. The anime will probably be just as bonkers and massively popular as all of the other parts as this series seems consistently super popular.
