With Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle having broken all sales records, we imagine Sony must be feeling good about the chances for their next big anime film, Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc. Picking up where the lone season of the Chainsaw Man series left off in 2022, it arrives next week in US theaters.
In Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc devil hunter Denji, who literally became a Chainsaw Man after merging with his pet devil Pochita, has finally convinced his boss Makima to go out on a date with him. Enthused about the possibility of lightening up his grim life, he’s blindsided by running into Reze — a different girl he barely knows, but develops a fast infatuation for. Now Denji doesn’t know which one to pick, and he’s torn between two loves.
There’s a bigger issue, though…this is not a spoiler because it’s in all the promos, but Reze is a Devil in disguise with the power to blow things up. The real reason she’s latched onto Denji is to lure him to her side. Will temptation get the better of him or will Makima keep him on the correct path?
We’ve got several videos for you today. The first is the entire NYCC panel for the movie, which was held over the weekend. In attendance are assistant director Masato Nakazono, CGI producer Yusuke Tannawa, and supervising producer / president of Studio MAPPA Manabu Otsuka. You can catch special preview footage of the film about 40 minutes in.
If this isn’t enough, the entire opening sequence to Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc has been released to YouTube. Watch Denji and his friends eat breakfast and commute to work while you boogie to “Iris Out,” the new single from J-Pop artist Hikaru Utada (who also created the show’s theme “Kick Back”).
There is also this: a new promotional video from Studio MAPPA themselves, highlighting the song “Hawatari Nioku Centi (Zentai Suitei 70% Kaikin edit)” which was used in Episode 3 of the TV show but expanded here. The full version of the song wasn’t released until now because the second half of the lyrics reference Reze.
Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc will open in theaters in the US and Canada on October 24, but those who belong to Crunchyroll’s Fan, Mega Fan, and Ultimate Fan subscription services will be able to catch a sneak preview in select locations on October 22.
