Last week Amazon Prime sent out nine (nein) new screenshots from Critical Role’s The Mighty Nein and, as we predicted, they followed it up with a full trailer released during their NYCC panel this morning. Surprisingly, we STILL hadn’t heard the full voice cast for this show.
We’ve already covered that the main cast includes the Critical Role gang in new critical roles: Laura Bailey as Jester, a chaotic prankster; Travis Willingham as Fjord, an orphan sailor who has picked up mysterious magic powers he doesn’t understand; Liam O’ Brien as Caleb, a wizard who’s skilled at fire magic but has a mysterious past; Marisha Ray as Beau, a monk with attitude; Taliesin Jaffe as Molly, a flamboyant tarot reader for a traveling carnival; Sam Riegel as Nott the Brave, a foul-mouthed alcoholic goblin girl; Ashley Johnson as Yasha, a barbarian woman and mercenary; and Matthew Mercer as Essek, a Kryn elf and elite spy.
Last week the supporting cast was revealed and it included multiple Disney Princesses: Ming-Na Wen as Dairon, Anika Noni Rose as Marion Lavorre, Auli’i Cravalho as Toya the Vivid Voice, Alan Cumming as Gustav Fletching, Mark Strong is Trent Ikithon, and Tim McGraw as Vandran.
Today they extended that list even further with the following guest stars in unidentified roles: Anjelica Huston, Lucy Liu, Nathan Fillion, T’Nia Miller, Felicia Day, Graham McTavish, and Ivanna Sakhno. It’s a packed house!
The series takes place twenty years after the previous one, in the same wonderland of Exandria. Like Vox Machina, the Mighty Nein are a crew of misfits and outcasts who, together, become a force powerful enough to take down the worst threats in the world. As you might expect from CR, some of them have a bit of a mouth. “Wanna be my BEEEEEEEEP?” Jester says. It’s censored so it’s safe for work (not all CR Toon trailers are, but this one is).
We get to see The Beacon, the series’ most dangerous MacGuffin, in this trailer. Those hands holding it are the wrong ones, and if the Nein can’t wrestle the Beacon out of those hands, reality itself could unravel. No pressure, right?
The Mighty Nein premieres November 19 on Amazon Prime. It will be followed by the fourth season of The Legend Of Vox Machina in 2026.
