The Bad Guys Breaking In To Their Own Netflix Series

So speaking of Dreamworks TV shows that become movies…what about Dreamworks movies that become TV shows? Just about every movie the Fishing Moon Kid Studio has made has gotten its own companion show, and soon The Bad Guys will join the ranks.

The Bad Guys: Breaking in was announced today with a premiere date of less than a month from now. The Bad Guys already had a duo of holiday specials on Netflix, and viewers can expect a similar framework to what was used there: it’s a prequel, with the Bad Guys still bad, and trying to do bad things yet failing miserably at them.

Dreamworks has taken flak for the cheap quality of its TV spinoffs when compared to the movies they are based on. Based on the trailer, we expect said flak to still be taken. Fans of The Bad Guys movies love the impressive, rubbery animation, and the cheaper holiday specials had them moving very stiffly. So does this.

Before everyone’s favorite felons became THE Bad Guys, they were just some bad guys trying to earn their fearsome reputation. On their journey to be the biggest and baddest criminals in history, Wolf makes it their mission to become the top crew on 6 News Nightly’s Worst of the Worst List with their boldest heists yet … but they’ve never been very good at being bad.

As you might expect from such a budget bite, this show can’t afford the movie actors either, so here’s who’s who now: Michael Godere as Wolf, Ezekiel Ajeigbe as Shark, Raul Ceballos as Piranha, Chris Diamantopoulos as Snake, Mallory Low as Tarantula, Zehra Fazal as Tiffany Fluffit, Patton Oswalt as Mr. Wigglesworth and Kate Mulgrew as Serpentina. Well, at least we have Oswalt and Mulgrew.

It’s a real shame how Dreamworks treats these TV expansions of their movies as castoffs or afterthoughts. If you didn’t like the specials, there probably won’t be much for you here either. The Bad Guys: Breaking In breaks into Netflix November 6.
