When we last reported Crunchyroll’s 2025 anime lineup, we noted that One Punch Man season 3 was one of the most anticipated titles of that lineup. It turns out there has been a twist, Crunchyroll is getting One Punch Man, but not for the US market. Mexico, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia (pretty much every major anime market except the US and Canada) are getting the show, but someone else is streaming the show in the US.
It turns out that Hulu will the US streaming home when it debuts October 12. It is not too surprising considering Viz Media’s partnership with Hulu that we are seeing another Viz title be Hulu exclusive in the US. Viz titles Bleach and Undead Unluck are also streaming exclusively on Hulu. This is not necessarily good news for One Punch Man considering that Hulu anime titles tend to get significantly less eyes on them compared to Crunchyroll or Netflix titles. Bleach: The Thousand Year Blood War at least had the benefit of being one of the biggest anime brands out there and that helped it be one of the rare successful anime on Hulu. At least One Punch Man is an already highly established brand name, so there is a chance that season 3 won’t fall into obscurity like Undead Unluck. It tends to be that Viz does the vast majority of the the promotion as Hulu tends to not promote titles.
There has been no announcement of when the English dub will arrive. The first two seasons’ dubs premiered on Adult Swim’s Toonami block, but it seems very unlikely that the dub will premiere on cable in the 2020s. The dub will probably also be on Hulu, but it may take a way. Viz tends to take about two months to start dubs, based on how long it took for each cour of Bleach: The Thousand Year Blood War to get a dub. It might be a wait.
In the meantime, here’s the latest trailer, released last week:
Although season 2 of One Punch Man was controversial, the source material is still beloved and there are lots of fans hoping that season 3 can right the ship. Will it be as huge as season one was a decade ago? We’ll see.
