The holidays may be 6 months away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t report on the winter fun. That’s the case with Unicorn Academy, which will release a 45 minute Winter Solstice special on November 13, 2025 on Netflix. Here’s everything that you need to know.

Let’s start with a recap. Unicorn Academy is a Netflix series based on the book series of the same name by Julie Sykes and Linda Chapman that first came out on November 2, 2023. The show, developed by Totally Spies and Shimmer And Shine writers Michelle Lamoreaux and Robert Lamoreaux, centers on a teenage girl named Sophia Mendoza, who’s given a prestigious invitation to Unicorn Academy, a prestigious, magical boarding school on Unicorn Island. With her new friends, she has to unlock the mystery behind her father’s disappearance while also protecting Unicorn Island.

Now as for the special, we have this description to go off of: “It’s time to celebrate the Winter Solstice at Unicorn Academy, and Ava just can’t wait to show Sophia and Sapphire Dorm the perfect day! She wants to make sure everything is as it should be, and at the top of her list…PRESENTS! But when the Solstice celebrations are derailed by a troublesome thief, Ava’s fixation leads her to lose sight of what truly matters. While the unicorn riders pull together, will Ava be able to save the Solstice and make things right with her friends, too?”

So we’re getting an Ava centric special. That’s pretty fitting given how the other extended specials after the pilot centered on different characters. “Under The Fairy Moon” centered on Isabel while “Legendary Summer” focused on Layla. Anyway, the show’s voice cast returns for the special, including Sara Garcia as Sophia Mendoza, Sadie Laflamme-Snow as Ava Banji, Kamaia Fairburn as Layla Fletcher, Gabriella Kosmidis as Isabel Armstrong, Kari Wong as Valentina “Val” Furi, and Kolton Stewart as Rory Carmichael. Unicorn Academy has Charlie Adler as voice director, and is produced by Spin Master Entertainment and Mainframe Studios.
