It could not be contained. The Rick And Morty Season Eight trailer emerged from a green portal and said “You really don’t know me, do you?” One minute and fifteen seconds of cartoon chaos were unleashed by Adult Swim this morning, and you can watch every second below.
At least half of these clips seem to come from the Easter episode, of which a preview was made available April 1. It’ll be a bit late to celebrate, but perhaps Rick can aim a laser at the moon and change its cycle so that Easter is reset to May 25 instead of April 20 this year. Also, we’d bet good money the clip of Jerry rapidly gnawing through a head of lettuce is from that episode. It’s too rabbit-like.
Rick and Morty is back for Season Eight! Life has meaning again! Anything is possible! Look out for adventures with Summer, Jerry, Beth, and the other Beth. Maybe Butter Bot will get a new task? Whatever happens, you can’t keep Rick and Morty down for long. People have tried!
But that’s not all….Adult Swim also gave us the episode titles. All of them. It’s not really that big a hint, as most of this show’s titles tend to be puns on popular movies with names of the characters shoehorned in, and they often bear little relation to what the actual episodes are about.
AS announced the release date of May 25 earlier this month, after their April Fools’ play re-enactment stunt. “We hope you enjoyed our theater interpretations of Rick and Morty, especially if you are well-off/impulsive and now want to back a Broadway version of the show,” said Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen. “For the rest of you, we’re glad you now know when Season Eight is starting so you have time to stretch and get loose because the team has yet again made a totally great season of television.”
The eighth season of Rick and Morty begins its run May 25 at 11 PM on Adult Swim. No “next day on Max” end tag here — some kind of contract technicality prevents the series from appearing there until the entire season is over.
