Harley Quinn’s Valentine’s Day Special Sets Its Date

No one knows when Harley Quinn Season 4 will premiere on HBO Max, nor if there will be an HBO Max by the time it’s ready (probably not), but you can numb your appetite for new material with the appetizer coming to the streamer next month.

Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special was announced last October. WB picked today to send out the trailer and a basic synopsis: “As Harley goes to obsessive lengths to ensure that her first Valentine’s Day with Ivy is the best ever, Bane’s efforts to impress an unexpected date go horribly awry. Meanwhile, after an unfortunate online dating encounter, Clayface engages in some self-love.”

The trailer also reveals appearances for many other DC characters including the Harley Quinn debut of Etrigan (hopefully everything he says is in rhyme). Note: the second half of this involves massive spontaneous humping across Gotham and isn’t safe for work, at least visually.

The exact length of the special hasn’t been revealed, but they’ve got a lot of people to pack into it if it’s a half-hour: Alan Tudyk as Clayface and Joker, Matt Oberh as Kite Man, James Wolk as Superman, Natalie Morales as Lois Lane, Chris Diamantopoulos as Aquaman, James Adomian as Bane, Jim Rash as The Riddler, Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, Rachel Dratch as Nora Freeze and Michael Ironside as Darkseid.

This is in addition to unidentified guest roles by Janet Varney (Legend of Korra), Leila Birch (EastEnders), Tyler James Williams (Abbott Elementary), Josh Helman (Wayward Pines) and Casey Wilson (Happy Endings). I’m secretly hoping Varney is voicing a Korra cameo even though that would make no sense at all.

Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special premieres on HBO Max February 9. Be there or be under the impact of a large-sized prop mallet.
