Disney Releases Final Zootopia 2 Trailer

Disney has released what they say will be their last Zootopia 2 trailer. That’s a bit surprising as normally, studios release the last trailer about a month before a movie’s premiere, and Zootopia 2 has two months to go — it doesn’t open until Thanksgiving.

Previous trailers established that Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, former enemies, are now partners working the beat together. The big rumor they’re chasing down is there might be a snake loose in the city, and snakes are forbidden in Zootopia. But Gary DeSnake, as he turns out to be named, isn’t dangerous — just misunderstood.

The new trailer expands on this. Apparently reptiles as a whole are banned in the city. We’ll have to wait two months to find out why that rule exists, but they’re not really obeying it…they’re living underground in a secret community. Nick and Judy now have to prove to Zootopia that snakes, crocs and related creatures aren’t their enemies.

Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman return to voice Judy and Nick respectively, and Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) is Gary. Other returning roles include Idris Elba as Chief Bogo, Bonnie Hunt as Bonnie Hopps, Don Lake as Stu Hopps, Nate Torrence as Clawhauser, Jenny Slate as Bellwether, Alan Tudyk as Duke Weaselton, Maurice LaMarche as Mr. Big, Leah Latham as Fru Fru, Josh Dallas as Frantic Pig, Tommy Chong as Yax, Mark Rhino Smith as Officer McHorn, Raymond Persi as Flash the sloth, and Shakira as Gazelle.

New to Zootopia are Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) as Dr. Fuzzby, Fortune Feimster (Crushing It) as beaver Nibbles Maplestick, Patrick Warburton (The Emperor’s New Groove, Family Guy, Puddy) as Mayor Brian Winddancer, Andy Samberg (Saturday Night Live), and David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck), plus Macaulay Culkin (American Horror Story) and Brenda Song (The Last Showgirl) as Zootopian power couple the Lynxleys. For those who don’t know, Culkin and Song are married in real life.

“It’s been an absolute joy to reteam with so many actors who made the first film so special, and so exciting to expand the world with our phenomenal new cast members,” says director/writer Jared Bush, who is also the Chief Creative Officer for Walt Disney Animation Studios. “I can’t wait for audiences to see what other surprises we have in store in this brand-new adventure.”

Zootopia 2 opens in theaters this Thanksgiving, November 26.
