The Legend Of Vox Machina, Critical Role’s first animated series, won’t be returning until 2026…but that just leaves space for the launch of their second. The Mighty Nein follows a new crew, and takes place twenty years after Vox Machina stomped the Earth (or whatever planet Exandria is part of).
There will be a new Mighty Nein trailer debuting during Comic-Con, no doubt, but this week Amazon has released multiple screenshots from the series that don’t just depict the Nein, but members of the supporting cast for the first time. We finally get to see who Tim McGraw is playing…

These two we already know: Jester, played by Laura Bailey, and Fjord, played by Travis Willingham. Jester is a chaotic prankster who wound up picking the wrong figure to prank, and joins the Nein as she’s on the run from the forces of a powerful politician. Fjord is an orphan sailor who, after an incident at sea that destroyed his boat, washed ashore with magic powers…how’d he get them, and are they a gift or a curse?

This guy’s also part of the regulars; it’s Liam O’ Brien as Caleb, a wizard who’s skilled at fire magic but has a mysterious past.

Marisha Ray as Beau, Sam Riegel as Nott the Brave, and Talisen Jaffe as Molly. Let’s move on to the unseen folks.

Say hello to Ming-Na Wen’s character Dairon, who is “an Expositor, a secret agent monk of the Cobalt Soul and martial arts expert. Direct and blunt, she becomes Beau’s mentor and deepest source of intel.”

This is Jester’s mother, Marion Lavorre, played by Anika Noni Rose. If you’re counting, that’s two for two in “supporting roles voiced by Disney princesses.” They call her the “Ruby of the Sea” and she performs nightly at the Lavish Chateau in Nicodranas. “She is warm and loving, but also overprotective and untrusting of the outside world.”

They call her Toya the Vivid Voice, and can you guess which Princess plays HER? Auli’i Cravalho. Toya is described as “a dramatic 13-year-old performer and tamer of Kylre, a ferocious Devil Toad. With the help of lumino beetles and the sound of her haunting voice, Kylre is precariously under her charm.”

Alan Cumming plays Gustav Fletching, ringmaster of the Fletching and Moondrop Traveling Carnival of Curiosities. “He has given a plethora of misfits and malcontents a home at the carnival, like his dear friend Mollymauk.”

Mark Strong is Trent Ikithon, the Archmage of Civil Influence for the Cerberus Assembly and the one who taught Caleb how to magic up fire. “Secretly, Ikithon is the head of the Volstrucker, a team of elite wizard assassins that operate under the Empire.”

Finally, here is Tim McGraw’s Vandran, described as “a stalwart, confident sea captain and father figure to Fjord. Commanding and firm, but understanding and nurturing when needed, he takes Fjord under his wing and teaches him how to be a true leader.”
Amazon’s The Mighty Nein (not the Sensual Seven, despite what Jester tells you) premieres November 19.
