Toonami has released its latest schedule update for July 12, 2025. The newest Toonami original series by legendary Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe, Lazarus, is getting a marathon.
Since June 28 will be the conclusion of Lazarus season 1, the entire 13 episode series will be available to air on July 12. It remains unknown if additional seasons of Lazarus are planned, but another Toonami original Ninja Kamui has been recently renewed at Annecy for two more seasons. With its bleak premise about a drug induced end of humanity, Lazarus may end decisively with no one left alive for a sequel.
For July 12, Toonami begins at a special early time of 11 PM, preempting Rick and Morty. This lets Lazarus experience direct runoff from Family Guy’s large audience for the first time since Adult Swim obtained the rights back at the beginning of 2025. The marathon runs for six and a half hours, with an 11 PM start time and a 5:30 AM conclusion.
11:00 PM Lazarus episode 1: “Goodbye Cruel World”
11:30 PM Lazarus episode 2: “Life in the Fast Lane”
12:00 AM Lazarus episode 3: “Long Way From Home”
12:30 AM Lazarus episode 4: “Don’t Stop the Dance”
1:00 AM Lazarus episode 5: “Pretty Vacant”
1:30 AM Lazarus episode 6: “Heaven is a Place on Earth”
2:00 AM Lazarus episode 7: “Almost Blue”
2:30 AM Lazarus episode 8: “Unforgettable Fire”
3:00 AM Lazarus episode 9: “Death on Two Legs”
3:30 AM Lazarus episode 10: “I Can’t Tell You Why”
4:00 AM Lazarus episode 11: “Runnin’ with the Devil”
4:30 AM Lazarus episode 12: “Close to the Edge”
5:00 AM Lazarus episode 13: “The World is Yours”
Notably this marathon marks the subbed premiere of Lazarus. The series was initially promised to air dubbed first, then air subbed on a month delay. These plans were dropped. The Japanese language version made its premiere on Max instead. However this will be its broadcast Toonami premiere. Like Housing Complex C and Uzumaki, the marathon may be done in place of a full second weekly run, if Toonami chooses to remove Lazarus from the lineup on July 19. However, other originals have received both a marathon and a full weekly rerun. Adult Swim has been getting their money’s worth out of Lazarus in non-Toonami slots. They have been airing the dub on Thursday nights as well, competing with Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works on Axs’ Anime.com Hour at midnight.
Are you looking forward to the Lazarus marathon, or were you hoping Toonami would continue their regular programming on this non-Holiday weekend?
