Chuck E. Cheese is something many of us grew up with, whether it’s the fun games and prizes or the yummy pizza. With a franchise as big as this, it’s not a surprise when it gets even bigger. As such, we can report that The Chuck E. Cheese Christmas Special is in development. While we don’t have a release date or network/streaming service attached, or even a story, we do have plenty to talk about. Let’s go over it.
The special will be written by animation veterans Jon Colton Barry and Zac Moncrief. They’ve both worked on all sorts of great projects on their own, but together, they worked on Phineas And Ferb and Be Cool Scooby Doo. Given how acclaimed the former is, and the latter has gotten more love in recent years, they’re definitely perfect picks to take on this special. The special is directed by Zac Moncrief and Steve Trenbirth (known for working on The Jungle Book 2 and The Croods: Family Tree). Bobby Pontillas, known for working on movies like Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and Moana, is handling the character designs. Australian animation studio Pixel Zoo Animation Studios will be working on the special. The special also has songs written by Jon Colton Barry and Zac Moncrief alongside Ben Bromfield (known for working on Ginny And Georgia) and Jon’s father Jeff Barry.
Now for the voice cast. Nathan Kress, known for playing Freddie Benson on iCarly and its 2021 revival, is voicing Chuck E. Cheese. Of course, he has done voice work before, such as with The Penguins Of Madagascar, Star Wars Rebels, and Pinky Malinky. Veteran voice actors Grey DeLisle, Nolan North, Fred Tatasciore, and Kari Wahlgren are also attached to the special, but their roles are unknown.
Of course, this is only the beginning. There’s currently to make more of an animated franchise with the Chuck E. Cheese IP. To quote Chuck E. Cheese Entertainment: “This is not just a seasonal moment — it’s the beginning of a long-term vision to transform beloved characters into a storytelling universe for today’s kids and families.” “This latest venture marks a strategic content expansion for Chuck E. Cheese, just as the brand has been reimagined for the latest generation of kids, launched a licensing division that currently has over 30 licensee partners in retail, novelty gift, toys, books and more, and engages with over 40M kids and families every year across its nearly 600 fun centers around the world.” It’s safe to say that this is only the beginning.
The special is produced by Chuck E. Cheese Entertainment, UTA and Stampede Ventures’ kid-focused HappyNest Entertainment. And that’s all we know about the special. We’ll update you when we have more information.
