Dan Da Dan: “I’ve Got This Funny Feeling” Episode 8 Recap

This week’s episode focused on the developing Okarun/Momo/Aira love triangle, and all the drama it entailed, while also setting up the next battle with aliens. This episode ended with a shocking and tantalizing twist that is sure to cause lots of conversation. Without further ado, let’s recap this episode. Again, there is sexual humor in this episode, and view and reader discretion is advised.

The episode begins with the main cast slurping noodles awkwardly and trying to sort out the conflicts within the group. Momo apologizes for dropping the washtub on Aira, and Momo then demands that Aira apologize for being a complete jerk to Okarun. Aira refuses and says that they will continue to be worst enemies because she believes that Momo and Okarun’s powers come from an evil source (which is technically true in the latter’s case). Despite this, Aira thanks Okarun for helping save her and the series drops the obvious hint that she is attracted to Okarun and sees Momo as a romantic rival.

The next scene involves some good old fashioned off color humor with attaching the golden ball to Okarun. Turbo Granny does this by pitching it baseball style right at Okarun. Seiko wears a baseball uniform to drive home the wackiness of this scene. This scene was short, but half of the major quest is complete.

Okarun brushes off Momo and says he has to work on schoolwork. She does not believe him and thinks he might be up to something. She theorizes that he might be attracted to Aira and when she walks through the schoolyard, she sees Okarun and Aira in a compromising position.

A flashback shows how this happened, and in traditional anime fashion, this was indeed not what it looks like. Instead of studying he was actually doing physical training so he could successfully fight the next ghost or alien of the week to threaten him. He was doing the old One Punch Man training regimen when Aira shows up and confesses her love to him. She says that a magazine she borrowed from her dad says that she has to kiss to confess her love. Okarun tells her that she seems inexperienced with actual relationships if she is relying on a magazine for relationship advice, and the show seems to confirm that this is the case. He tries to push her away, but they end up in said compromising position.

Momo is infuriated and is not interested in Okarun’s apologies. He acknowledges that he did lie to her and he understands where this wrath is coming from. As someone who wants to see our protagonists together, this scene was pretty upsetting and I am hoping they make up.

Turns out weird stuff happens at the climax of this episode as the school floods and everyone except the three main characters disappears from the school. Things get even weirder when a dinosaur all of a sudden shows up. Momo tries to hide from the dinosaur. Turns out it’s a dinosaur that shoots beams when it roars and Momo ducks and covers. Okarun remembers the alien trap from episode 2 when he realizes there’s a barrier around the school. The aliens from episode one appear and attempt to experiment on Okarun by using scissors to cut off the body part all the ghosts and aliens are obsessed with. He tries to use his powers to fight off the villains, but his powers are not working. Someone very unexpected shows up to his rescue, when it is revealed that Aira has a transformation of her own. This is a most unexpected development and it appears that next episode will be the big fight.

Although there was no way this episode could top the last one, the shocking reveal at the end was a highlight, and the hook for next episode has me excited to see the big battle next week.
